What a minute-I am confused. In the last few days, the WHO has reported that the Omicron variant (I am waiting for someone to get five across and yell “Bingo”) has had a worldwide increase of 11% (RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!)–and at the same time the CDC is creating mass confusion by shortening the recommended quarantine time from 10 days to 5.
Globally, new cases in the Americas increased by 39% to nearly 1.48 million, making it the second most infected region, with 144.4 new cases per 100,000 residents. Almost 1.18 million cases were reported in the U.S. alone, up 34%. Curious, because with number of folks who HAVE been vaccinated one would expect that number to be much, much lower.
Now, if things are actually getting worse™ then why are we REDUCING the safety protocols? Unless-hear me out-they were not correct to begin with?
Some medical experts are criticizing the decision to shorten the recommended quarantine period for COVID-19 from 10 days to five, which could create confusion and fear among Americans. The new guidelines permit people to leave isolation without getting tested for infectiousness. This is disconcerting to some authorities.
In the middle of another winter spike in cases, this one driven largely by the contagious Omicron variant, the guidance has raised questions as to how it was crafted and why it was changed now.
And I am not the only tinfoil hat wearer that is starting to seriously question not only the stuff I find ridiculous, but also some of the things that we were told that-at the time-seemed to make a modicum of sense. Despite the fact that Dr. Anthony Fauci still finds opportunities to express his opinion, the left’s view of COVID-19 seems to be shifting in the last few days.
Although the White House is now trying to retract the, statement, on Monday, President Biden said that he’d have “gone harder, quicker” to distribute COVID-19 tests (that cannot, presently detect the Omicron strain) if he’d known the Omicron variant was going to cause record-high rates of new infections — moments after telling a group of state governors that “there is no federal solution” to the crisis.
FYI-from the White House Propaganda Page: “President Biden is implementing a six-pronged, comprehensive national strategy that employs the same science-based approach that was used to successfully combat previous variants of COVID-19 earlier this year. This plan will ensure that we are using every available tool to combat COVID-19 and save even more lives in the months ahead, while also keeping schools open and safe, and protecting our economy from lockdowns and damage.”
Arkansas governor Asa Hutchinson said in a virtual meeting with members of the National Governors Association that Biden must “not let federal solutions stand in the way of state solutions” adding that the president’s announcement last week that 500 million COVID tests will soon be available for Americans to order is “great, but obviously, that dries up the supply chain for the solutions that we might offer.”
“Look, there is no federal solution,” the president stated. “This gets solved at a state level … and it ultimately gets down to where the rubber meets the road and that’s where the patient is in need of help, or preventing the need for help.”
(Not sure I am following that-For the record, I think the guy that got Joe to recite “Let’s Go Brandon” was a bit of a jerk-and I am not sure that ol’ Joe didn’t see that all as a big joke.)
This torpedoed Biden’s argument in favor of a vaccine mandate or any other kind of government mandate. In addition to showing how hollow his presidential campaign was, Townhall.com noted Tuesday that Biden had promised at least a dozen times as a candidate or as president to shut down COVID.
Last week, Vanity Fair reported the White House rejected a plan to expand at-home testing in October (in the middle of the CDC openly admitting that their tests are being redacted because they cannot differential between COVID and influenza). In a recent interview, Biden admitted that he wished he had pushed 500 million tests two months ago. Australia is kind of regretting that exact move for their own country, as their own testing has been somewhat problematic.
Researchers from Harvard’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health, the Rockefeller Foundation, the COVID Collaborative, and other groups pitched a 10-page plan to White House officials on Oct. 22 that called for the production of 732 million tests per month for a “Testing To Prevent (a) Holiday COVID Surge.” plan wanted “Every American Household to Receive Free Rapid Tests for the Holidays/New Year.”
But there are signs that liberals are starting to cry “Uncle.”
CNN medical analyst Dr. Leana Wen, the former head of Planned Parenthood, told an interviewer last week:, “Cloth masks are little more than facial decorations. There’s no place for them in light of omicron.” Wen added, “We need to be wearing at least a three-ply surgical mask. … You can wear a cloth mask on top of that, but do not just wear a cloth mask alone.”
As People magazine noted, “The call to nix cloth masks conflicts with the mask-wearing recommendations from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which encourage masks that ‘have two or more layers of washable, breathable fabric’ for the general public.”
According to the CDC, the virus that is most transmissible is rampant throughout the country, so the quarantine period has been shortened to five instead of 10 days. Trying to work that one out as I type.
That had leftists spinning (well, ok, it has ALL of us in knots), including Fauci. Rep. Rashida Tlaib tweeted about that decision, the CDC “is saying ‘we need people back to work quicker even if they are still sick.’ Is this based on public health and science? Or is this in response to corporations like Delta who asked for shorter times?”
In addition, the Blaze reported that the CDC significantly revised its figures regarding the spread of COVID on Tuesday. Omicron accounted for more than 73 percent of new cases reported by the agency on Dec. 18. This puts the spread for that day at 22 percent. CDC reports that 58 percent of new cases were caused by the new variant as of Christmas Day.
“We had more data come in from that time frame and there was a reduced proportion of Omicron,” a spokeswoman told Politico.
Furthermore, the left is now awakening to the impact of their draconian policies on children. Maybe.
On “Face the Nation,” CBS reporter Jan Crawford said that the most underreported story of 2021 is the “crushing impacts” COVID policies have had on kids, who are “by far” the least seriously affected by the virus.
According to Crawford, the “tremendous negative impacts” on kids have been an “afterthought” for policymakers, saying, “They will be paying for our generation’s decisions the rest of their lives.”
BWAHAHAHAHAHA! Sorry; I didn’t realize there was anyone left on this rock that wasn’t aware of THAT.
Crawford cited recent comments made by US Surgeon General Vivek Murthy about the impact on children.
Murthy, who works for and with the people who have advocated these damaging policies, now acknowledges that kids and young adults face “widespread” mental health challenges.
“I’m so concerned about our children because there is an epidemic, if you will, of mental health challenges that they’ve been facing, and it’s partly because of the pandemic,” Murthy said recently. “We know that their lives have been turned upside down. They haven’t been able to see friends as often as they would. And that’s taken a toll.”
Similarly, Italy is considering removing the quarantine completely for those who have had close contact with an infected person provided they have received a booster shot. It is predicted that up to 2 million Italians will be quarantined over the next two weeks due to the spread of the virus.
We are finally to the point that-officially-NO one knows what in the heck is going on. Including the guys that started this mess.
